1st February 2018
Over 1000 fans turned up to cheer on the under 19s squad.
Chester FC’s financial troubles which were made public last week meant the club needed as many people through the doors as possible on Tuesday night.
The Blues under 19s took on Gateshead in the National League Alliance cup.
Not only were they victorious, winning 1-nil but over twelve thousand pounds were raised to help save the club. With the attendance figure at 1,065 £12,800 was raised toward that goal, bringing the total amount raised to £35,000.
The club needs to raise £50,000 by the end of February to stay afloat.
Youth team manager Callum McIntyre was overjoyed saying: “The future of the football club needs to be fought for… An anonymous businessman made a donation of several thousand pounds this evening based on recognizing the work that goes on within the youth section and the commitment from players within it. He doesn’t want to be names, he wants to remain anonymous and I think that speaks volumes about the respect from the supporters and the support we receive.”
